Three quarters into the year, backpacks get full of all sorts of fun memorabilia from the year. Junior Erin Magnuson’s backpack is a great example of such, with disco balls, fortune tellers, and bottles of lotions and chap-sticks. The fortune tellers, which have fortunes from online sources and chemical and Greek symbols, are something Erin has kept in her backpack for weeks. “I don’t want to throw it out- it’s funny and it makes me feel sentimental.”

As well as having random gizmos in her backpack, Erin is very prepared. “I have some scissors, two calculators, and a lot of lotion,” she said. She has a carabiner full of hairties and earbuds.
