[TRENDING] Ep. 1 with Clark Waltz (The Favourite, Lizzo, and 21 Savage)
“Hi, I’m Liv Larsen and this is Trending. My first guest is…”
“Clark Waltz. Yay.”
“Thank you for joining us today. Today we’re going to be talking about things that are trending on the internet, things that have happened, music we like right now, movies we like right now, and all those types of things. Do you have anything you want to start the podcast with Clark?”
“Well, one movie that I saw recently that I really like was The Favourite. I thought it was really good. I thought Emma Stone did an amazing job, and I saw it with you, so what did you think?”
“Ya, I thought it was really good too. I thought the cinematography was really interesting. There were a few fish eye shots that were kinda interesting, funky. I also really liked the colors in it. Are you excited to see how that does at the Oscars?”
“Definitely. I’m not a big Oscars person, but since that movie is nominated I’ll definitely be looking to see if it gets any awards or anything.”
“Alright, so now let’s talk about some new music that we’ve been listening to. One track that I’ve really been loving is “Juice” by Lizzo. I think it’s a really good song, and she’s gotten a lot of press for it. She’s been on some of those like talk show things, you know. Doing pretty well, so that’s good for her. Do you have anything you’ve been listening to a lot?”
“The most recent thing I’ve been listening to is 21 Savage’s album and I like it. I think he’s definitely like, matured as an artist. There’s more emotion in his work than there was before, but it’s still cool and fun and whatever. I just think it’s really funny that, well not funny, but he’s British. I mean, what do you think about that?”
“I mean, it sucks that he’s getting deported, but I think one good thing that’s come out of this is it’s made a lot of like, people who aren’t super passionate about immigration, like now they’re getting involved, and even though it’s bad that they’re just getting involved now, I think it’s good that it’s drawing attention to the problem, you know?”
“Ya, and the corruption because this happened right after he spoke out against the current White House administration, I believe, so and that you know, no coincidence, at least in my opinion. Anyway, but I also, you know, I’m excited to see what he’s gonna do. Is he gonna embrace being British? Or is he gonna still like, keep pretending to be American? Because as of now, British rappers have pretty terrible, you know, like, reputation, so maybe he’s gonna open some doors for some British rappers. We’ll see.”
“I’m excited to see what all these new albums coming out are gonna be like. I know Lizzo’s dropping an album in April, Billie Eilish is dropping an album in March, the Wallows are dropping an album at some point, Ariana Grande is releasing an album on Friday, and it’s gonna be interesting to see what kind of feedback that receives just five months after Sweetener’s release. That’s all we have for you today. Thank you so much for listening to Trending. Stay tuned for more episodes coming every few weeks.”
