From celebrities to actors to athletes, the shoes have remained a cornerstone of comfortable and stylish footwear for decades. Converse shoes have often been used as a form of self-expression since there are various styles and countless colors that can suit every personality. For over a century, the shoes have served as a symbol of resistance among women and teenagers because they can find a sense of identity and empowerment through the colorful and stylish Converses.

For 9th grader Ellie Murphy, converses are both durable and fashionable.

“Converses are super classic and you can wear them with just about any outfit, fancy or casual,” Murphy said.

Senior Gabi Seifert agrees with Murphy’s sentiments.

“I once went on a hike up a mountain in my converse, and I was really impressed with how comfortable they were. I’ve had Converses for so long and I can’t imagine not wearing them all the time,” Seifert said.
