The current senior speech guidelines limit certain language and references to make speeches appropriate for the broader community. Some seniors have had their speeches modified to meet these guidelines.

With all the recent talk about "censorship" from the senior speech stage it's a good time to look at the reasons for edits.
On page 16 of the US Student Handbook the section "Affinity Groups" is included for the first time to date. “We came to realize that one of the biggest and most active parts of our community are our affinity groups and they weren’t referenced at all in the handbook," US Principal Max Delgado said.
