After two years of drafting and the combined effort of students and adminstrators, Cerena Karmaliani and Serene Kalugdan brought the new sexual assault and harassment policy to the eyes of the student body.
As a community, we need to have more discussions about sexual violence, take active measures to prevent it, and create a healing space for those who have experienced it.
To ensure that students understand affirmative consent beginning at a young age, this new policy must span kindergarten through twelfth grade, laying an expectation of consent and building a culture set to dismantle rape culture from the moment students enter our community.
60 allegations and found guilty on three accounts, once beloved actor Bill Cosby has been sentenced to 3-10 years in state prison without bail. The ruling seems completely inadequate for Cosby's offences, both proven and not.
Led by seniors Cerena Karmaliani and Serene Kalugdan, Students Against Sexual Harassment has been collaborating with administration on the school’s sexual harassment policy over the past year.
Time can move fast and slow at the same time. Many students have found that it is important to remain present and hold on to what makes life meaningful.
