Before celebrating thanksgiving, we need to recognize the real history of the holiday and the effect it has had on indegenous people.
MY STORY, MY SONG. Reuben Kitto Stately talks to the 9-12 assembly about his experience as a native person growing up in the Twin Cities. Stately also shared his belief during Q&A that the best function of a white ally is to spread accurate information and “Just don’t stand in the way, then we will all be at peace.”

With Indigenous People’s Day just passing on Oct. 11, and Thanksgiving coming up at the end of November, the purpose of this assembly was to celebrate and embrace the Indigenous people and their traditions.
