Students use short “Vines” as an easy way to connect with friends
Looking for a simple and fun way to connect with friends and family via social media? Try Vine. It is a free mobile app where users capture and share short looping videos that are six seconds in length or less. “It is fun to take a break and watch short videos.” sophomore Sabrina Brown said. However, “like other social media, it distracts me from doing my homework,” Brown said.
A relatively new app that was started in June 2012, Vine is available at no cost for the iPhone and Android. Users can also post their Vine videos to Facebook and Twitter. “It is really cool to combine different things to make a story,” sophomore Lexi Botteren said. One suggestion Botteren had was that “Vine should get the effects like Instagram has” which allows the user to select different filters to make something look more interesting. Since the Vine app is quick and easy to use, its popularity continues to grow.
