As a new sports season rolls into April, music acts as a way to smooth the transition from the winter freeze to the spring slush for the Spartan Ultimate Frisbee team. The Ultimate team is entering their second year as a registered Spring sport at St. Paul Academy, with roughly 45 students signing up to play. Although increment weather is forcing the team indoors, music allows for connections with other teams and is making the start of the season a little less gloomy, according to senior co-captain Nik Elsaessar.

“Music is a way for us to bond during warm ups of practices or games, whether it was music we liked or not. It’s also a way for us to connect with other teams because some teams play music on the sidelines and it lightens the mood without dampening the competitiveness of the game. With such a big program now, music will also be a way for many to express themselves because of the many different music tastes in the program,” Elsaessar said.
