The Sparks swim team had their last regular season meet this past Thursday night at Humboldt High School. The team has had an eventful season, and this conference meet was one of the main factors in determining how the remainder of their season will go.
“Our meet on Thursday was our last dual meet of the season,” junior Devyani Nelson said. “It was the perfect time to try new events and put all of our training to the test before the championship meets start.”
A dual meet in swimming is when two school’s swim teams compete against each other; in this specific meet, the Sparks faced off against HumWow, a co-op team between Humboldt and Washington high schools. Earlier in the season, the Sparks team had competed well against HumWow and beat them many times in competition.
As far as results go, the team dominated once again. “We won the meet and a lot of our swimmers got new personal records,” Nelson said.
The Sparks team has beaten the HumWow team once again and in impressive fashion. Almost every swimmer for the Sparks team beat their counterparts on the opposing teams in the separate races. “It was really exciting to win and see so many of my teammates do so well,” Nelson said.
The Sparks Swim team is heading into the postseason with lots of confidence and excitement after another dominating performance. Their next meet will be Oct. 25, where they will begin their post-season journey in the Conference Championship Meet.
