SMB falls to Delano in last regular-season game

The SMB Wolfpack faced the Delano Tigers on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Delano High School. Heading into their final regular-season game, the Wolfpack were feeling optimistic after securing their first win in two years.

The turnout for the game was modest, with only parents filling the Wolfpack section of the stands. The first quarter started off evenly, with both teams moving up and down the field but unable to score.

With just 33 seconds left in the quarter, the Tigers finally broke through the Wolfpack’s solid defense and scored the first touchdown of the game. The Tigers missed the following field goal, leaving the Wolfpack trailing 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Wolfpack defense held their own, preventing any additional scores. However, their offense also struggled, leaving the team scoreless heading into halftime.

The third quarter saw more challenges for the Wolfpack. With 7:42 left on the clock, the Tigers managed to score another touchdown, but they once again missed the field goal, bringing the score to 12-0. In a tough blow, the Wolfpack allowed a final touchdown with just seven seconds left in the quarter. The Tigers successfully kicked their first field goal, extending their lead to 19-0.

As the fourth quarter ticked away, both teams fought hard, but neither gave or gained significant amounts of ground. However, with just 3:50 left in the game, the Tigers scored the final touchdown. The Wolfpack ultimately faced a 25-0 defeat in their last regular-season game.
