Alumni artist Rhys Conlon ’97 held a reception at the Drake Gallery on Friday, October 5. Her gallery, “Dissecting a Rainbow,” is based on the natural world. “Nature–in the broadest sense–is the driving force behind this body of work,” said her artist statement, which can be found near the entrance of the gallery. Conlon aimed to bring her art to St. Paul Academy and Summit School because she thought it provided an environment conducive to her artistic development. The teachers at SPA teach you the skills you need, but are also pretty open about letting you find your own voice at an early age … They allow you to grow,” Conlon said.
Conlon’s gallery will end on October 26 and next month, the Drake Gallery will showcase the artist Hazel Belvo’s works.
