Easter may have passed, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still the perfect time for an Easter feel-good movie. Miracles from Heaven, based on true events, shares the story of Anna Beam (Kylie Rogers), a young girl from Texas who was diagnosed with a very rare, incurable disease that makes her unable to digest any food. Although the movie is only rated PG, it deals with real issues, such as death, God and money issues. The actors portray their characters incredibly well. The most haunting scene was when Anna was is the hospital and is suffering so much that she tells her Mom (Jennifer Gardner) that she wants to die. Rogers is only twelve years old, but she portrays Anna’s want to die very believably.

The movie was aimed at Christians and non-Christians would probably not like the movie because of the strong theme of faith and grappling with faith during a tragedy. A main focus of the movie was Anna’s Mom, Christy’s struggle with faith during Anna’s illness.

This movie was definitely cheesy, very similar to the movie My Sister’s Keeper, but because of the topic of the movie and the fact that it was based on a true story, there wasn’t really any way for it not to be cheesy. The movie is very emotional and every moviegoer should expect to be in tears for the majority of the movie. The final scene of the movie showed the real Anna Beam with her real family. This scene was overly cheesy but really showed the viewer that this is a real story and that was very beneficial to the movie as a whole.

Overall, although cheesy, Miracles from Heaven is a great feel-good movie and is the perfect movie for a rainy day. It deserves 4.5 of 5 stars.
