Midnight Red performs at Homecoming Kickoff
From the Beatles to the Backstreet Boys to One Direction, teens have consistently fallen for boy bands. In the hopes that students would fall for a week of strong homecoming spirit, The Rubicon brought Midnight Red, a fresh new boy band, to SPA’s homecoming kickoff assembly on Monday, September 9th. The band sang its hit new single “Take Me Home” in addition to serenading senior Sarah Geotz, junior Julia Lagos, sophomore Sabrina Brown, senior Jessica Wenn, and senior Claire McGlincey whilst singing a cover of Rihanna’s “Diamonds.” Midnight Red’s performance energized the Upper School and at one point throughout their performance, seniors rose from their seats and danced. The band signed autographs after its performance and Upper School girls flocked in a frenzy towards band members for photos. “He touched me,” junior Kailey Wendlandt exclaimed. Students of the Upper School left the kickoff assembly feeling enthused for a week of Homecoming celebrations.
