Librarian Kate Brooks shares her excitement of increasing LGBTQ+ representation in books. “Not only do you have a wide variety and stories that are there, but they that are from a wide variety of gender identities, sexual orientation identities, cultural identities—so it is not just a white narrative,” she said. In the background, LGBTQ+ identity has always existed, but recently, mainstream literature is lifting that curtain. “There is a long history, but just in terms of how visible it was,” she said.
