Some students wait in line for a new set of blue and gold pajama pants, others buzz with anticipation for the homecoming soccer game. Hot dogs smoke on the grill and add to the heat of the sun beating down from the clear sky. A big white tent provides shade and an assortment of candy and soda for sale, and the SPA carnival tradition continues.

The parking lot and soccer fields turned to a sea of blue and gold as students and faculty gathered for the homecoming carnival last Friday. Lower school students come to the upper school campus, many finding their way into one of seven bounce houses. Grades K-12 all share in the celebration together. “I love the way that all the kids come out from all over the lower school, the middle school and the upper school. It’s like, we’re one tight-knit community,” sophomore Anessa Herzi said.
