A game that was plagued with negativity during its pre-release ended up shocking its players with a new experience.

Pokemon Let’s Go combines modern technology with a classic. Pokemon Lets Go, Pikachu and Eevee, released on the Nintendo Switch this past weekend via digital and physicals copies. The remake of Pokemon Yellow, which originally released in 1998, is catered to a younger more inexperienced player market. The game, which is targeted at a younger audience,  turned off veteran Pokemon players with a market price of $59.00 and a lack of features.

Many were hesitant to purchase such an expensive game that removed many features fans adore. Some of these features include; battling wild Pokemon and capturing them, wireless Pokemon battles against friends, and the addition of an entirely new aspect to the game. The new game allows the player to connect their Pokemon GO mobile app with the Nintendo Switch and transfer Pokemon captured on the mobile game to their Pokemon Lets GO, Evee or Pikachu account. This new feature boasted an expansion to the real world but was perceived negatively as it made the game seem gimmicky and childish. All of these changes made players wary of the game they had recently purchased.

Once the digitally downloaded copy was ready to play, the player can open up the game, create a character, selected some items, and began on their journey exploring the Kanto region. The controls were anticipated to be clunky but instead were smooth and easy to learn. The lack of Pokemon battles not only made Pokemon training and hunting a more streamlined process, but they aided in creating an easier playing experience.

Pokemon Lets Go is a great addition to the Pokemon franchise with new features that expand the player experience. It is a perfect platform for the first time player or even the veteran player.
