Healthy snack options taste tested at SPA
A variety of pasta salads, veggie wraps, a hummus platter, and cookies awaited students on Oct 22 during X-period. They were eager to satisfy their hungry stomachs with delicious looking treats.
Senior Sandhya Ramachandran tried the lasagna. “I like free food. And this tastes good.”
That is exactly what Chef Simon Barrow wants to hear. He is working to make snacks for students who have to stay late at school. The snacks that were previewed were just some examples.
Barrow received positive feedback about the pastas, wraps, cookies, bars, and breakfast sandwiches.
Aside from satisfying the stomachs of hungry students, the real purpose of the snacks was “to start offering these meals as pre-sports meals for students who stay at school late,” Barrow said.
Another change that is in the works is a healthier vending machine. The vending machine is going to offer “fresh salads, sandwiches, cookies, bars, granola, cheese, and grapes,” Barrow said.
If you want to share your opinion about lunches and or possible snack, contact Chef Simon Barrow in the dining hall. “I need to find out what your likes and dislikes are. My primary focus is for the student’s nutrition,” Barrow said.
