First Constitution Day mixes fun with American history
Writing for Publication I, a prerequisite class for publications, hosted their first Constitution Day on Sept. 15. The students brainstormed activities during class and then broke into teams to make them happen. During the week, the Blue Sheet encouraged advisories to compete in a Know Your Constitution quiz. At the event, students in the class were decked out in First Amendment t-shirts.
“It was really helpful to memorize the constitution because now we know our literal rights instead of just a general knowledge” said Writing for Publication Staffer Tana Ososki
The event itself boasted a wide turnout across all grade levels, including some faculty. Constitution lovers got to decorate cookies, see if they could correctly place the Bill of Rights in order of the Amendments, make free speech mini-t’s, and take practice tests for citizenship.
Constitution Day 2017 was Sept. 17.
