The First Aid Vectors, the 2015 World Savvy team, took first place in the Minnesota State Senior Level World Savvy competition on April 25.  Working on the topic of “Population and Progress,” focused on global health issues, the team created a presentation about AIDS and Ebola.

“We assigned everyone a different role to play (e.g. doctor working to develop a treatment for Ebola, a nonprofit worker, etc.) and everyone wrote a corresponding part of the script,” junior Milo Wittenberg said.

First Aid Vectors is made up of Wittenberg, sophomores Diane Huang, Sophie Jaro, Kathryn Schmechel, Sarah Wheaton, freshmen Emilia Topp-Johnson, and Emma Truman.  Competition and awards took place at Van Cleve Community Center on the University of Minnesota Campus.

Upper School history teacher Sushmita Hodges said that “[The First Aid Vectors] demonstrated collaboration at its best and worked tirelessly to produce an outstanding summary of how to deal with disease pandemics.”

St. Paul Academy and Summit School’s World Savvy team has competed in the global knowledge competition for years, presenting on themes ranging from “Food: Feeding the World Sustainably in the 21st Century,” to “Develop Solutions,” and have placed highly every time.
