Lunar New Year is a significant holiday in many East Asian and Southeast Asian cultures, including but not limited to Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Thai communities. While each culture’s way of celebrating the Lunar New Year may differ, the essence of celebrating the Lunar New Year is shared across all these diverse communities. Common themes such as food making, family reunions, cultural performances and honoring ancestors, can be found among all. This year, Lunar New Year was Feb. 10.
By interviewing freshman Ann Li and sophomore Minh Tran, this video takes audience through behind-the-scenes of preparing cultural foods in celebration of the Lunar New Year in both Chinese and Vietnamese cultures respectively.
