TeKnowledge helps people, primarily elders, learn how to use new technology. Senior Ezra Cohen founded the company to “teach consumer tech: how to use iPhones, mac, printers, etc.”

When most kids turn 16 or 17, their parents urge them to find a job and gain real world experience. But senior Ezra Cohen took matters into his own by founding a company by the name of TeKnowedge LLC. The company offers appointments to people to help them understand technology. Cohen founded the company to “teach consumer tech: how to use iPhones, mac, printers, etc.”

While anyone can use their services, they primarily work with the elderly.

The company was started by Cohen and two of his friends from elementary school who now go to Minneapolis Southwest.

“[My friend] and I were hanging out, and he came to me with an idea outlined as TeKnowledge,” Cohen said.

Cohen likes how he can control when he takes his appointments, and how many he takes at a time.

“I usually take my appointments on the weekends and in the fall after school too; in general I take eight [appointments] per month,” Cohen said.

TeKnowledge started by establishing a connection with Walker Methodist assisted living home.

“The administrators helped us meet with prospective clients,” Cohen said.

TeKnowledge later spread to a second assisted living home as well with other private appointments.

His business has been successful, but Cohen realizes now that his time with TeKnowledge is coming to an end.

“In an ideal world, we will figure out a plan for next year because we are all going to college; maybe we will pass onto our younger siblings,” Cohen said.

Though he likes working for TeKnowledge, Cohen in not interested in IT as a future career

“I have learned that I don’t like business, but I like interacting with people and learning about their life stories,” Cohen said.
