SPA boys’ varsity soccer team played Blake on Tuesday night, Sept 22, at The Blake school. The beginning of the first half was evenly matched, as the ball was distributed pretty evenly among the two teams. Blake, however, managed to score two goals within the last ten minutes of the first half, leaving SPA behind as they moved into the second half.
Within the first few minutes of the second half, senior captain Milo Waltenbaugh scored off an assist by Michael Bagnoli, celebrating by doing a backflip. Unfortunately, Blake scored two more goals immediately afterward, leaving SPA down 1-4. SPA refused to give up and continued to play an intense game until the clock ran out. “We played the best we have played all season. Blake is a very quality side with lots of individual talent,” Says Waltenbaugh. “A loss is still a loss though, so we need to do better”.
