Boys Baseball giddy’s up with country music to enjoy and motivate during hard practices
At the start of a promising season, Boys Varsity Baseball sits with a 2-1 record following a 12-2 win over St. Croix Prep on Wednesday. A big win as St. Croix Prep eliminated them in the section finals last year, so the team had extra motivation coming into the match. Their hard work in practice pays off on the field, and their playlist helps keep them energized and excited during practice and before games.
The playlist is unique for SPA sports teams, and it offers a country vibe rather than the traditional hip-hop mix. Captain Judah Thomas said, “It’s good ole country music for us spartan baseball players.”
The playlist starts with “Centerfield” by John Fogerty, ironic for its name, which is coincidentally a baseball term. Still, it is a high-tempo song that is sure to get everybody’s heads bumping and excited.
There are a variety of famous artists including Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, and Blake Shelton. This makes it so everyone recognizes the songs, and is able to enjoy them.
The playlist ends with arguably its most famous song, “Life is a Highway- 2008 remaster” by Rascal Flatts. This song is the perfect way to end the classic playlist, as it will get everybody singing along and in a good mood.
Boys Baseball takes on Highland Park at home on Tuesday, Apr. 19 at 4:00 p.m at home.
