SPA is full of gifted students who put their all into every project that they do. For all their effort students should feel excited to get recognized for their great work. But that is not the atmosphere at SPA. There is almost no knowledge or understanding of scholastic competitions or how to enter them.
It is important to have in school recognition for hard work by friends and teachers. But students can also go slightly out of their comfort zone and take on more out of school opportunities for recognition.
Along with just writing assignments students who love to draw, paint, or create anything artistic can submit their work to Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards, where they can get placed for their incredible work. Getting recognition from a professional can give students more passion towards their creativity, and encourage them to continue creating more and more art.
It is true that students in US Fine Arts classes submit work for Scholastics, but the program is open to everyone and the categories are extensive.
If a student is recognized they will feel a bigger accomplishment for their hard work and see the skills that they have. They will also be able to compare their work with other students in the same category outside of their school, district, or even state.
There is almost no reason not to apply a history paper, English essay, poem, script painting, drawing, picture, or sculpture that a student has produced in or outside of class. Since the contest in annual, even a student who doesn’t place in one year has another opportunity the next.
The benefits of submitting projects to out of school competitions are endless. And all it takes for a student to submit are a few simple clicks.
