Administration takes a safe, caring stand against Nerf Wars
February 7, 2016
Unsurprisingly, actions like trespassing in people’s backyards, driving cars at high speeds, and drawing fake weapons are not supported by St. Paul Academy and Summit School. This year Upper School Principal Chris Hughes and Dean of Students Max Delgado announced that the school does not condone the student tradition of Nerf Wars. The fact that Nerf Wars is an event that promotes potentially dangerous situations and the use of fake weapons is enough for the school to ban it. An even stronger argument would be to look at the two Lakeville South High School students who were killed in 2015 in a car accident related to Nerf Wars. The school should continue to enforce policies and encourage safety for their students, who should in turn be wary of the dangers evidenced by past Nerf Wars.
