Senior Michael Hall lunges at an opponent.

The men’s and women’s fencing team was defeated on Feb. 6 despite a strong performance against Twin Cities Fencing Club. Men’s foil managed to win their weapon but it was not enough to make up for the losses in the sabre and epee. But, while sabre and epee did not emerge victorious, they gained valuable info about some of their competitors which they will be able to utilize to train for the upcoming state meet.

“It’s unfortunate that the other weapons didn’t win, but I know they’ll take what they learned here and use it to train hard to come out on top at state,” said 9th grader Jackson Wittenberg, foil fencer.

Fencing has an upcoming meet at Holy Family against Holy Family starting at 9 a.m. on the 11th.
